Skipped yesterday because my rental car was stolen, both the rental company and the cops handled it altogether irresponsibly and in ways that are getting me jacked up for a ton of BS fees that amount to 41x the rental charge, so I spent the day dealing with all that and getting my ducks in a row. In the spirit of all this nonsense, here's today's song (below).

Ike Reilly - Commie Drives A Nova
This ex-Marine and very nice family guy in my experience has had a brilliant music career. Look him up. This is my favorite song from his first solo album which is one of those rare ones where every song is really good. I'd be a jerk if I didn't link to Duty Free from the same album which was good enough that Cracker covered it and had a hit with it.
Ohio Players - Fire
In the mid-late '80s, legendary J. Geils Band frontman Peter Wolf used to host an annual radio show on 104.1 WBCN, where was the overnight DJ before joining Geils in the late '60s, called the Houseparty & Fish Fry. I still have a couple of those shows on cassette. Anyway, these shows were funny and the quick-witted jive-talking Wolf aka the Woofa Goofa Momma Toofa, turned me on to a lot great older r&b, including this song. I'll leave you with a joke from the night he played it: one of the on-air guys asked him, "Hey Peter, you know the Great Wall of China?" and Wolf responded, "No, but I do know a pretty good fence in Chicago!"
